Continuing onward in Think and Grow Rich , we learn how the power of auto-suggestion works by a lengthy story which I’ll summarize.

In the 1900′s, a Mr. Charles Schwab had an IDEA how to form a multi-billion dollar corporation known as US Steel. At first it was just an idea in his head, and he had no background in the steel industry whatsoever. But that didn’t deter him. He put FAITH into his IDEA and formulated a PLAN to carry it out. He had a BURNING DESIRE for its success. He sought out investors, put it all together, and was eventually made the President of the compan
This example just goes to show that DESIRE CAN BE TRANSMUTED INTO ITS PHYSICAL EQUIVALENT!
The chapter goes on to say:
Doubtless some will say, “You cannot convert NOTHING into SOMETHING!” The answer is in the story of United States Steel. That giant organization was created in the mind of one man. The plan by which the organization was provided with the steel mills that gave it financial stability was created in the mind of the same man. His FAITH, his DESIRE, his IMAGINATION, his PERSISTENCE were the real ingredients that went into United States Steel. The steel mills and mechanical equipment acquired by the corporation, AFTER IT HAD BEEN BROUGHT INTO LEGAL EXISTENCE, were incidental, but careful analysis will disclose the fact that the appraised value of the properties acquired by the corporation increased in value by an estimated SIX HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS, by the mere transaction which consolidated them under one management.
In other words, Charles M. Schwab’s IDEA, plus the FAITH with which he conveyed it to the minds of J. P. Morgan and the others, was marketed for a profit of approximately $600,000,000. Not an insignificant sum for a single IDEA!
So what do you think? Comments please!

Continuing on in Chapter 5 of Think and Grow Rich, we learn of a Mr. Dan Halpin who was manager of the famous 1930 National Championship Notre Dame football team until he got another job he didn’t much care for. He finally aimed high for the position of Assistant Sales Manager and got the job!
The story goes on to say:

A. M. Andrews, Chairman of the Board of the Dictograph Products Company, a business competitor of the company for which Halpin worked, wanted to know something about that man Dan Halpin who was taking big sales away from the long established Dictograph Company. He sent for Hal-pin. When the interview was over, Halpin was the new Sales Manager, in charge of the Acousticon Division.
Then, to test young Halpin’s metal, Mr. Andrews went away to Florida for three months, leaving him to sink or swim in his new job. He did not sink! Knute Rockne’s spirit of “All the world loves a winner, and has no time for a loser inspired him to put so much into his job that he was recently elected Vice-President of the company, and General Manager of the Acousticon and Silent Radio Division, a job which most men would be proud to earn through ten years of loyal effort. Halpin turned the trick in little more than six months.
Now how’s that for quick! SIX MONTHS vs. 10 years!
Don’t just settle for mediocrity by staying at the bottom. Have some imagination and better yourself!

In chapter 5 of Think and Grow Rich, we delve into the topic of SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE.

In my day job, I work as a cruise and tour travel agent for a credit card rewards redemption agency. We had several weeks worth of 8 hour per day training classes where we learned detailed information on approximately 35 accounts. But what was drilled into our heads more than anything is to NOT MEMORIZE the information but to understand HOW TO GET that information!
And if you look at CEOs of major corporations, you’ll notice that they are HIGHLY SPECIALIZED in what they know, and if they don’t know something, they have highly trained people that they can go do to get their information!
Let me tell you a short story. I have an uncle who is a high-powered attorney who loves to appear in court. About 20 years ago we were over to his house. The kids wanted to watch a video tape, and the tape in the tape player needed to be turned over so the adults in the other room could continue to listen to music. My uncle was called over, and he couldn’t even figure out how to stick a video tape into the VCR and press “PLAY”! He also couldn’t figure out how to hit “eject”, turn the tape over and press “play”. But what he did was call his wife, who was a stay-at-home-mom, over and have HER do it! She ran the house, and it was nothing for her to do it. He knew where to turn!
What about you?

Reading onward, we learn about AUTO SUGGESTION. Here’s a good poem again excerpted here:

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will-
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!
Auto suggestion is a very powerful thing.
Do you have any experience with it?
What are YOUR thoughts?

As we continue on in Think and Grow Rich chapter 3 continued, we learn about Self Confidence. In fact, my mentor Mark J. has challenged us to HAND WRITE the following out and read it twice a day. Here it is excerpted:

First. I know that I have the ability to achieve the object of my Definite Purpose in life, therefore, I DEMAND of myself persistent, continuous action toward its attainment, and I here and now promise to render such action.
Second. I realize the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves into physical reality, therefore, I will concentrate my thoughts for thirty minutes daily, upon the task of thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture of that person.
Third. I know through the principle of auto-suggestion, any desire that I persistently hold in my mind will eventually seek expression through some practical means of attaining the object back of it, therefore, I will devote ten minutes daily to demanding of myself the development of SELF-CONFIDENCE.
Fourth. I have clearly written down a description of my DEFINITE CHIEF AIM in life, and I will never stop trying, until I shall have developed sufficient self-confidence for its attainment.
Fifth. I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure, unless built upon truth and justice, therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use, and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them, and in myself.
We then signed our name on the bottom. I’ve been reading it for several weeks now and am already noticing a difference.
Want to give it a try?
Let me know what you think below.

As we continue into chapter 3 in Think and Grow Rich , we learn about FAITH.
Now this is not what you normally think of when you think of faith. What Hill means is like this:
“ALL THOUGHTS WHICH HAVE BEEN EMOTIONALIZED, (given feeling) AND MIXED WITH FAITH, begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent or counterpart. ”
The key here is, has Hill goes on to say that “The emotions, or the “feeling” portion of thoughts, are the factors which give thoughts vitality, life, and action. The emotions of Faith, Love, and Sex, when mixed with any thought impulse, give it greater action than any of these emotions can do singly.”
So what do you think? Leave some comments below
